Life can be full of challenges and sometimes we need someone to just listen, to offer support and encouragement. Even though we may feel discouraged, there’s always hope. As a Christian, I believe that our hope is in Jesus Christ, the divine source of healing, wisdom, and freedom. I offer spiritual discussion, Biblical Truth, and prayer within counseling, but I will be sure to check in with you regarding what you expect and prefer.

 

With 20 years experience as a school counselor and Licensend Professional Counselor, I have a heart for helping people, for being with them in whatever they’re going through and lightening their burden. With God’s help, my clients are encouraged and empowered to experience renewed hope and joy. Specialties include supporting those who deal with depression, anxiety, life’s transitions, grief, and serving seniors who are on Medicare. I am a certified grief-informed counselor. Only telehealth is offered for individual therapy. However, I'm available to facilitate group counseling (ideal for retirement home residents) which is also covered by Medicare. When appropriate, I bring my dog Roxy who is certified for animal-assisted therapy. 

 

I use a variety of modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Strength-Based, and Client-Centered approaches. Our thoughts affect our emotions and behaviors, and I often work with clients through this framework. My focus is on supporting, encouraging, and equipping clients with tools necessary to live life to the fullest.  It is of utmost importance that my clients feel safe, respected, and understood in the counseling relationship.
